Our Unique Philosophy

Modern science and ancient wisdom have converged on the creative power of human mind and brain: no matter what you desire the most in life - happiness, health, abundance, love, success, fulfillment - they are the outcome of what we think, feel and do.

In other words, our life is governed by the state of our mind and workings of our brain.

Old Myth: the brain is a hard-wired machine.

New Truth: the brain changes thanks to life experiences.

Thanks to advances in neuroscience, we now have a greater understanding of how "plastic" our brains are, not just in our early years of development, but throughout our entire lives.

Our experiences, actions, and even our thoughts all contribute to the formation of neural pathways and networks within our brains, akin to "trees" and "forests".

This means that our brains are not hard-wired and inflexible, but rather can adapt and reorganize themselves based on our conscious choices of attention and awareness. Neuroplasticity reveals that we all have the potential to unwire and rewire our minds and brains to cultivate greater compassion, joy, and wisdom within ourselves.

The relationship between our intangible mind and our tangible brain has been recognized and utilized for centuries in ancient Eastern philosophies such as Buddhism, Taoism, and yoga.

These ancient traditions teach that our external circumstances are merely a reflection of our internal state of being, including our thoughts, beliefs, and emotions.

By consistently practising mindfulness and meditation, we can use the principles of neuroplasticity to unwire and rewire our thoughts, beliefs, and mindsets, creating a more peaceful and joyful state of being.

Our approach

Research has shown that simply discussing intellectual principles does not necessarily lead to significant changes in the brain or body. Instead, experiential actions have been found to be more effective.

To tap into the power of neuroscience and Eastern philosophies for sustained, practical, and effective changes, Peace Lab workshops incorporate a variety of creative and experiential methods, including play, laughter yoga, and meditation.

By using these methods, the learning and wisdom embedded in neuroscience principles and Eastern philosophies are consolidated in a joyful and fun or contemplative and reflective way.

Each workshop or program is unique, and our goal is to provide an insightful learning experience that inspires positive change.

LET’S PLAY

We design exercises that are both enjoyable and purposeful. By engaging in these exercises, participants not only have fun, but they also uncover profound meanings that enable them to unwind, introspect, and reconnect in a spontaneous and imaginative manner. Dr. Stuart Brown, the founder of the National Institute for Play in the US, emphasises that play is not only reserved for children or leisurely activities. In fact, play acts as a powerful catalyst for personal growth and development. The capacity to play is crucial not only for cultivating joy but also for fostering social connections and unlocking creativity and innovation.

LET’S MEDITATE

Meditation is no longer seen as a New Age concept. In fact, neuroscience has proven the numerous positive benefits that this ancient practice has to offer. Not only does it reduce stress and anxiety, but it also increases physical strength and enhances emotional intelligence. At Peace Lab, we believe that meditation is a powerful form of "mind technology" that can bring clarity and creativity to one's life.

It's worth noting that even Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, was a long-term meditator, and many major companies such as Apple and Google have implemented in-house meditation programs for their employees. Our workshops at Peace Lab incorporate a variety of creative meditations that are non-denominational and specially designed for participants to perceive, decode, and discover personalised messages.

LET’S LAUGH

We integrate Laughter Yoga and laughter exercises into our sessions to help individuals harness the power of intentional laughter. Developed by renowned Indian physician Dr. Kataria in the mid-1990s, Laughter Yoga is an innovative aerobic exercise that utilizes intentional laughter to expel stagnant air from the body and facilitate the intake of fresh oxygen.

Research has shown that our brain does not differentiate between intentional laughter and humor-induced laughter, making it an effective tool for enhancing one's overall well-being. By tapping into our innate capacity for play and laughter, participants can experience a childlike state of mind and find relief from stress, boost energy levels, and improve mental clarity.

This phenomenon occurs as Laughter Yoga triggers the release of endorphins and serotonin in the brain, which contribute to feelings of happiness and well-being. By incorporating Laughter Yoga into our sessions, we aim to provide a fun and engaging experience that leaves participants feeling more relaxed, focused, and energized.
